Diego Calva To Star In ‘The Night Manager’ Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Diego Calva (Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, Narcos: Mexico) has been cast as a lead in Prime Video‘s The Night Manager for Season 2. He joins previously announced stars Tom Hiddleston and Camila Morrone.

Inspired by the characters in John le Carré’s best-selling novel, the upcoming second season of The Night Manager will once again be written by show creator David Farr and Season 2 will be helmed by BAFTA-winning director Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie, Paper Girls). Details regarding who Calva will portray and the season’s plot are under wraps.

Season 1 premiered in 2016 to much fanfare. Led by Hiddleston alongside Hugh Laurie, The Night Manager was watched by millions and won multiple BAFTAs, Emmys and Golden Globes including Best Actor for Hiddleston. Also starring Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman and Elizabeth Debicki, it followed Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) – who ran a luxury hotel in Cairo – as he attempted to infiltrate the inner circle of Roper’s crime syndicate after being hired by Foreign Office task force manager Angela Burr. Deadline confirmed a new season was in the works exclusively in April.

New seasons of The Night Manager will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and outside of the UK globally on Prime Video, in a deal negotiated by Fifth Season, which is handling global distribution of the series.

In addition to Farr, executive producers also include Stephen Garrett for Character 7, Georgi Banks-Davies, Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston; Joe Tsai and Arthur Wang for 127 Wall; Stephen and Simon Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff, and Tessa Inkelaar for The Ink Factory; Adrián Guerra for Nostromo Pictures; William D. Johnson for Demarest Films, Nick Cornwell, Susanne Bier, Chris Rice for Fifth Season and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC. The series is produced by The Ink Factory in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Wall, and in co-production with Nostromo Pictures.

Calva most recently starred as Manny Torres in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon and Season 3 of Netflix’s hit series Narcos: Mexico as Arturo Bertrán Leyva. Up next, he will work alongside Jacob Elordi and Daisy Edgar Jones in Daniel Minahan’s On Swift Horses.

Calva is repped at Lumina Management in Mexico, as well as in the US with WME, Entertainment 360, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.
